Argentina
Take a look at a map of Argentina. Do you notice anything unusual? If you are interested about the weather in the country of Argentina, then you will realize that the equator runs through the northern part of South America, of which the northern most part of Argentina is near; and the southern most region of Argentina is very close to the Antarctic Circle. Your Argentina map, at a glance, hints at a great disparity of climates … all in one country. The great difference in climate in the northern part of Argentina versus the south is but one of the many facts about Argentina you should be aware of. In regards to Argentina’s history, the first inhabitants were indigent to the area. It wasn’t until the 16th century that Spain came sailing in and established a colony in what is now Buenos Aires. There were some squirmishes along the way and at one point the people of Argentina took matters into their own hands to gain their independence. They earned it in 1816.
Because of the European influence and immigrants coming to Argentina, their way of life and traditions greatly influenced the culture of Argentina. Today, you will see a large percentage of the Argentina people come from European ties. Indeed, many of their events, buildings and even food have a European flair. While some of the Argentina food has that European touch, there are still some throwbacks to those natives from long ago. Some of the most popular Argentina recipes include locro (a native stew-type dish), empanadas and dulce de leche.
Argentina’s flag, you will discover, has three think horizontal stripes with a light blue, white and then light blue pattern. In the middle of the white stripe on the flag of Argentina, you will see a picture of a golden sun. This golden sun is very similar to what was on the first Argentinean gold coins. Christmas is one of the celebrated holidays in the country. Christmas in Argentina consists of a traditional dinner, music and dancing starting at nine in the evening on Christmas Eve. Right before midnight at the beginning of Christmas, everyone passes out candy and then settles in to watch fireworks. Presents and other goodies are opened from Father Christmas or Papa Noel as the Argentina people call him. If you ever find yourself wanting to travel to Argentina or even within the country, you will likely fly on their official airline Aerolineas Argentinas. And while in the Argentina, be sure to visit some of their historic sites as well as partake of the local culture in restaurants, festivals and other events. You will discover that the people there love a good party and enjoy life just as much as people from other areas of the world.
