Chile
The country of Chile in South America has many facets. It is an interesting country just looking at the different Chile maps available. And why not? Chile is this thin strip of land that is almost 3,000 miles long and not quite 275 miles in width at its widest point. Some facts about Chile can be easily gleaned from a map of Chile. For instance, towards the southern regions of the country, there are small islands that are considered Chilean territory including Cape Horn. These small islands are a lot colder than the rest of the country due to its proximity to the Antarctic Circle. Another thing you would be able to discern from a Chile map is that the capital of the country is Santiago, Chile. It is mid-way down the country with the Andes Mountains as a picturesque backdrop. The Chile culture is very important to the people. In fact, during the time of the Incas, Chile was a hub of culture with traditional dances, music and folklore. Today, this folklore is represented in those dances and music. Even the flag of Chile has symbolic meaning to its people. The Chile flag has the colors of red, white and blue with a star that stands for progress.

When it comes to their culture, part of that is comprised of yummy Chilean food. You would recognize some of the Chile recipes like empanadas, sopapillas, asada (a type of grilled meat) and humitas which are a corn cake that can be prepared either are a sweet or spicy fashion. Christmas in Chile often incorporates food into their celebrations. They also celebrate a Chile Christmas as other Christian cultures do; they have Christmas trees, go to midnight mass and open gifts with family and friends. If you find yourself going to Chile, be sure to take in the sights. This country, with its ties to the past Incan empire, has plenty to see. Plus, who could resist a possible side trip to visit Easter Island or experience one of the glaciers up close and personal?
