Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a worldly city that has its share in the history books. Some of that history dates back to the 1700’s when the city really started to grow. It started as a fishing village and experienced some robust times in the 17th century thanks to shipping interests. It is the canals that the city is known for that date back to these times. In regards to tourism, the best times to come to Amsterdam are those when the weather is cooperating. Amsterdam weather is temperate. Winter is cold but not usually freezing while the summers are warm but rarely hot. When you decide to travel to Amsterdam, be sure to consult with an Amsterdam map ahead of time so that you can pinpoint the places you would like to visit. If you purchase an Amsterdam guide map, you will notice that there are some rather curious entries on there like the Amsterdam Red Light District. You see, prostitution is legal in some areas of the city like this red light district and it is very open. The area attracts not only the curiosity-seekers but also patrons who wish to partake of the services of these Amsterdam prostitutes.
Some of the Amsterdam brothels will have display windows where prostitutes can sit and display their wares, for a lack of a better explanation. So if you are feeling adventurous and want to satisfy your curiosity, mark a visit to the red light district on your list of things to do in Amsterdam. Of course, you will want to add museums and a tour of the Anne Frank house as well. And if you are a night person, be sure to sample some of the local Amsterdam nightlife. The bars, dance clubs and other places hop at night.
Traveling to Amsterdam, you will likely land in the Amsterdam airport. Its proper name is the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and it is just a few minutes away from the city. If you book your flight on the internet, you should be able to do the same for your Amsterdam hotels. In fact, there are special search engines which will compare prices from several different ones so that you can make the most economical choice possible. You will likely even find cheap hotels in Amsterdam as well. Just be sure to steer clear of the red light district, unless of course you are into that sort of lifestyle!
