Laughlin
The state of Nevada is known for its casino resorts, especially in Las Vegas and Reno. However, did you know that the third largest gambling town is Laughlin? That’s right; Laughlin, Nevada is home to several casino resorts in the area such as the Aquarius Hotel Laughlin (formerly the Flamingo Laughlin) and the Golden Nugget Laughlin. The greater emphasis in Laughlin, Neveda is the family-friendly atmosphere. Sure, there are Laughlin casinos attached to hotels in Laughlin that cater to the gambling crowd. However, there are a ton of family options to choose from as well. In fact, many retirees and families that travel in RVs enjoy visiting Laughlin, NV because it does have the adult oriented entertainment as well as the family friendly ones like camping, hiking, golf, boating and several other outdoor-type of activities.
This family-friendliness extends to some of the real estate that can be had out there as well. There is Laughlin Ranch, which is actually located in Arizona just right across the Colorado River from Laughlin, Nevada. You can build a home out there and partake of the many amenities that the area has to offer like parks, golf courses, pools, boating and more. Of course, if you don’t plan to move there, then it could be one of the many events the town holds every year that brings you there like the Laughlin River Run, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country.
Of course, gambling is a big part of the attraction as are the facilities that all the Laughlin hotels have to offer. For instance, if you stay at the River Palms Laughlin, you could explore along the Laughlin Riverwalk, a lovely landscaped area along the Colorado River that is perfect for touring and gazing at the natural beauty of the area. Other activities to consider are river tours and helicopter tours. You could also take a few side trips to such places as Davis Dam, Red Rocks Natural Conservation Area, Mitchell Caverns and a number of small ghost and mining towns. If traveling for a particular event is more your style, then don’t forget about the River Run that was mentioned previously. There are also another host of events like the Laughlin Desert Challenge, a Bluegrass Festival, a Native American event called the Avi Kwa Ame Pow Wow, Rockets over the River Fourth of July Fest and even a Dragon Boat Festival. These events are what sometimes draw tourists in and it is the hotels that house them. It stands to reason that while in the hotels, they might do a bit of gambling too.
